It's summer, it's hot and I wash my face quite often. I barely use make up but if I do it tends to be just a light foundation and waterproof mascara. So I was looking for something nice to remove make up, but also something gentle to clean my face. This is the second post on a series that I hope will eventually help me develop a product that works well for me. I already have something in mind, but given that this product created by Lola had great reviews, I thought I tried it.

Initially I wasn't conviced because there are no surfactants in this cleansing milk, therefore even if it sounded like a lovely product to remove make up, it wasn't maybe adapted to use as a normal face wash. Let's try it!

Here I share with you the recipe:

Phase A

Water to 100 (69.40)

Carbopol ultrez 21 0.3

Xanthan Gum 0.1

Glicerine 8

Phase B

Caprilico Capric Triglicerides 12

Cocoa Butter 3

Shea Butter 1

Cetilstearilic Alcohol 2

MGS ( Metilglucosio Sesquistearato ) 3

Aperoxid (I used Vitamin E) some drops

Phase C

Bisabololo 0.5

Conservant 0.5

Perfume (optional)

As you can see from the picture, the cream came out really thick. I put it in a pot which is not the most hygienic in this case, but for a trial is ok.

I can say that removes make up even though I haven't tried it with heavy make up (weather won't allow!). Using it as a simple facila wash is not exactly my favourite thing to do (it's thick and leaves a residue, in fact it's recommended to use a detergent for the face after, something with surfactants, that will finish cleaning the face). For what I understand the theory is that the oils in the emulsion capture the make up and other dirt or impurities on the face, and then washing it with hot water is all removed.

I just went to try it again to make sure... As a facial washer is not bad, leaves the face smooth, still there is something that doesn't convince me, maybe it's the texture that it;s quite thick. I definiteyl will use this as a make up removal, especially delicate for the eyes.

From this I learnt that my face prefers something lighter, like a milky product, something that has a bit of a soapy feeling, bubbles would be nice, and something that rinses easily and leaves the face opaque, with a feeling of clean, humected but with the need of a facila cream that is applied after. Let's continue our research!
