As I said before, I love conditioners. I have never had soft hair and had kinda resigned to that. Having discovered that my damaged and (badly) treated hair can be soft, has been a lovely discovery! I have tried other recipes (which you can find on this blog), but I decided it was time to put all the conditioner ingredients together and make something that would work for me.

I am quite proud of this recipe since I created it all by myself (and this time was a success!)... It's probably nothing amazing in terms of formulating, but I did really enjoyed it today in the shower!
Phase A
Water to 100 (71.8)
Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium 0.2
Inulin 1
Glicerine 5
Silk proteine 1
Cetrimonium Chloride 3
Phase B
BTMS 5
Coconut Oil 1
Castor Oil 2
Jojoba Oil 2
Sweet Almond Oil 2
Mango Butter 1
Cetearyl Alcohol 2
Phase C
Panthenol 1
Poliquaternium 7 0,5
Quaternium 80 2
Hydrolized Collagen 0,5
Conservant 0,5
Perfume (I used a mix of Lavanda and Geraium EO with a fraganze called "flower")
First of all we have to prepare Phase A. The process requires certain order: first we are going to calculate the water and heat it up. Whne it's hot we add the inulin and mix to dissolve. We let the water sit till the temperature drop to room temperature. Then we add the guar. MIxing this will form a viscous thin gel. You can use a stick blender at this point if it doesn't incorporate properly.
Then we add the rest of the ingredientes of this phase and mix thoroughly.
Then it's time to start preparing Phase B. Add all th eingredients on a second container (heat resistant) and that's it.
Now we will put both phases inot a double boiler and take them both to 70 degrees. from experience the oil phase it's difficult ot work with in this conditioner. BTMS doesn;t like to stay melted and all we can do it's mix and mix till we reach the desired temperature (also trying to incorporate the oils properly).
When both phases are at 70 degrees, take them out of the double boiler, sit them on a kitchen towel, and pour Phase A into Phase B in one go. Have your stick blender ready and start mixing trying to avoid letting too much air into the mixture. When the mixture turns white it's emulsified. You will notice that is very liquidy, but it will turn thicker when cooling.
I put my becker into a cool bath in order to speed up the process. When it was at 45 degrees, I took it out and sat it on the desk. Now, I would recommend to keep mixing during this time. It helps consistency and I have the feeling I'm helping support the emulsification.
When we are below 40 degrees, or even closer to 30, we are going to start adding our Phase C. I mixed the Panthenol with the Quaterniums (they are awesome for smoot silky hair), then the collagen and finally the conservant and perfume. Mix very well after each incorporation.
It took me a while to get the right perfume for this conditioner, I kept adding a bit of this and a bit of that, it's not something amazing, I like it cause it smells like spring, still have to find my perfect conditioner fraganze I guess!!!
When completely cool you can bottle it.

The consistency is fantastic, like any commercial conditioner. The fraganze in the shower is quite nice and I do feel a difference with the last conditioner, which I can't say exactly, but I guess is the polyquaternium and the quaternium... the guar can also be helping.... It's been half a day now and the hair feels soft, wtill a bit frizzy, but with quite a bit of volumen, I don;t feel that for my hair this conditioner leaves much residue or makes them heavier... I think I've found my perfect fit!
